Description

AWANA is a fun, biblically instructive time for children ages 3-6th grade. Games, Biblical teaching, and scripture memorization unite at AWANA to form a weekly ministry buzzing with energy! We hope to see you there!

Clubs

Children are divided into clubs based on their ages as follows:

Puggles

(Age 3)

Children participate each week in a Bible lesson, songs, simple crafts and play time.

Cubbies

(Pre-School – ages 4 & 5 that are Pre-K)

Our preschool program offers the 4 F’s…..Fun – and lots of it, Friendly characters and leaders, Foundational Bible teaching & Family involvement. Cubbies begin memorization of God’s Word.

Sparks

(Kindergarten-Second Grade)

Firmly grounded in Scripture, the three Sparks handbooks feature: basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible.

Truth & Training (T&T) Boys and Girls

(Third – Sixth Grade with boys and girls separate)

The name of Truth & Training reflects the passion of AWANA to teach students the truth of God’s Word and to train them to follow Jesus in their daily lives.

A typical Awana evening:

Opening

The AWANA evening begins with students saying the Pledge of Allegiance, saying the AWANA pledge, singing the AWANA theme song, praying and leaders making announcements.

Children are then dismissed by clubs based on their ages and through the evening they will rotate through three 20-25 minute segments including:

Handbook Time

This is the time in the evening when children recite Bible passages that they have memorized from their AWANA books. Either a leader or listener will sign off in each child’s book once a section is completed and mark off the completed verses on an AWANA score pad. AWANA secretaries receive the scores and keep track of which verses each child has completed. Students receive points for their color team for verses recited which contribute towards their team score. Children receive awards for completing whole sections of their book throughout the year.

Game Time

This is an all-out massive action game time for children. Kindergartners play games in a separate room from 1st through 6th graders. Game time is run separately for the 1st and 2nd grade Sparks, 3rd-6th grade T&T Girls and for the 3rd – 6th grade T&T Boys. All games are played around the AWANA circle with red, green, blue and yellow color lines. Games vary from relay races, to beanbag toss, tug of war, etc.

Council Time

The AWANA council time is a 20-25 minute session where the truths of the Bible are taught by guest speakers, leaders, or through skits, in a captivating way.

Dismissal

During dismissal time, each club announces any students who have completed books and present book awards to those students. They also award prizes to the winning color team with the most points of the evening for their club. All clubs pray together and children are dismissed to parents.

Cubbies and Puggles rotate through a similar Opening time, Story time, Handbook time, Snack time and Dismissal in their own specified classroom space(s).

Each week children are encouraged to wear their AWANA uniform, bring their Bible and invite friends to join. Points are accumulated for each child each week who participate by reciting verses, wearing uniforms, bringing their Bible and inviting friends. All these individual points, including game time points contribute towards their color team score!
