Description

In this season of concern over the spread of COVID-19, Faith Community Church and its hosts will hold a Backyard VBS for K-5th graders this summer using the Go Fish “Gotta Move!” VBS curriculum.

The “Gotta Move!” curriculum was designed to remind children that our God is faithful and will give us everything we need to walk with Him. He gives us his grace, His Word, His Son, His forgiveness, and the Holy Spirit. As children learn directly from Scripture, we pray that they will be eternally impacted by God’s truths and the Gospel.

Backyard VBS for kids!

VBS is Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24th and is open to children in K-5th grade (2019-20). Children will attend VBS in the backyard of a neighbor who hosts one. Pre- K children may attend only if their Pre-K parent hosts (see “Can I host a Backyard VBS?” for further details). Parents will have the option to register their child(ren) for a time of day that works best and will be matched with a host home geographically close in proximity to where your family lives (we will do our very best to honor requests, but cannot guarantee it).  It is designed to be 1.5 hours in length and will include a music opening, Bible study, craft, game, and snack times and a closing music session. Each family will receive one "Gotta Move," CD per family. There is NO Charge for this summer’s VBS. We desire any and all children to participate in the midst of possible economic hardship.

Registration deadline is Monday, July 13th at midnight.

Keepin’ in Step with the Spirit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.

- Galatians 5:22-25

FAQs

Can I host a Backyard VBS?

YES! We need YOU! Backyard VBS is not possible without hosts! We are asking parent(s) to host 6 to 12 children grades K–5th (2019 – 2020 school year) in their backyard, or garage in case of rain. Hosts are encouraged to invite other K–5th grade children from their neighborhood to register and join their Backyard VBS. Hosts must register to participate, indicating the number of children they are able to host. Hosts can indicate whether they would like assistant(s) to help them with Backyard VBS. FCC will assign assistants based on geographic region. Hosts can request specific volunteer assistants in the registration, and we will do our best to honor requests. Children will be assigned to a host based on geographic region or special request (we will do our best to honor special requests, but cannot guarantee it).

Can I volunteer as an assistant for a Backyard VBS?

YES! We need assistants to help hosts with preparing for and hosting a Backyard VBS! Students who have completed 6th grade through adults are welcome to volunteer to help a host.

Host and Assistant Training

Hosts and Assistants are required to attend one training session. Training sessions will be via a Zoom call on Saturday, July 11th from 9-10am or Wednesday, July 15th from 7-8pm. Every host will be given a yard sign that indicates their home is an FCC VBS host family home, along with a box of materials including: a flash drive with VBS opening and closing videos and daily Bible study starter messages, the printed Bible study guide, craft materials, game ideas and supplies, daily snacks and one “Gotta Move” CD per family participating.
