Spend 4 days exploring cross country ski trails in northern Minnesota. We'll stay in secluded yurts deep in the boreal forest. Our food and gear will be hauled between two yurts by a local outfitter - we just ski with daypacks!
Yurts are rustic and are heated by woodstove. Water is hauled in by an outfitter. An outhouse is nearby. Yurts have bunk beds and sleep 6.
We will initially ski in 1 mile to the Tall Pines yurt. The following day, we'll spend time exploring the Central Gunflint Ski Trail system. The next day we'll ski 11 miles along the Banadad Trail to the Croft Yurt deep within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The final day, we'll ski another 8 miles to the end of the trail where our shuttled vehicle will be waiting. The trails we'll be on are classic skiing only.
BANADAD SKI TRAIL
CENTRAL GUNFLINT SKI TRAILS
You must be able to ski 8-12 miles two days in a row. Due to the distance required to ski and the remoteness of this trip, we consider this an intermediate trip. That said, difficulty depends on your level of fitness. Talk to us if you'd like more information about the challenges.
$325 (includes yurt lodging, all meals, gear/food shuttle, gas, vehicle, ski pass)
This trip will be lead by Thrive Leader, Pam Wright. She has skied this trail system many times.
