At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the light of the world. After Jesus was born, the Bible tells us that wise men followed a bright star. They had watched for the star for many years and were filled with joy when they saw it (Matthew 2:10). These men studied the teachings of the prophets of the Old Testament (Numbers 24:17), which told of the star that would appear when Jesus, the Messiah, was born. Stars are often placed at the top of a Christmas tree, as a reminder of the star that signaled Jesus’ birth.

On Dec. 21, bundle up and head outside for a rare opportunity to see an alignment of Saturn and Jupiter, which will appear similarly to the star that shone at Jesus’ birth. About 45 minutes after sunset, look to the southwest. It will appear brightest on Dec. 21, but should also be visible each evening that week. According to christianheadlines.com, the star will be visible anywhere on earth, so tell your friends and neighbors to look for this amazing sighting, too!
TIP: Set a reminder on your phone so you don't forget!
Gather together in the kitchen to make star-shaped bread.
Make some star Christmas ornaments from clothespins for your own tree or to give as gifts.
At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Some of the first witnesses to his birth were shepherds. An angel of the Lord appeared to them and told the shepherds the good news of Jesus’ birth—the one who would bring peace to the world had been born (Luke 2:14). And, we continue to share the good news of Jesus! Immanuel—God with us (Matthew 1:23)! Joy to the world!
