ALPHA Community Night is becoming FCC Community Night

We are excited to announce that in 2019, we will have new courses offered on Thursday nights at Faith Community Church, including a course about life’s most important questions, called “Christianity Explored.” It is a seven-week class designed to create space for us to think through our biggest questions about Life, Meaning, Faith and Jesus. To learn more visit: www.christianityexplored.com We will also be offering a new marriage class, called “Marriage on the Rock.” (The “What Did you Expect” course by Paul Tripp is a prerequisite for “Marriage on the Rock.”)

Is this why the name is changing for Thursday evenings?

Yes. For many years, Thursday evenings have been called “ALPHA Community Night” because ALPHA was the first class offered. Since Christianity Explored will be replacing ALPHA, we thought this would be a good opportunity to update the name to “FCC Community Night.” The evening will continue to include a complimentary meal and child care.

Introducing Rick Gimpel

After 18 years as the ALPHA Community Night team leader, Gary Nourse will be stepping down from that role in the fall of 2019. To prepare for the transition, Rick Gimpel was invited to serve under Gary’s leadership last year. Rick will be teaching Christianity Explored this winter and then transitioning into Gary’s role this fall.

Rick and his family have been attending FCC since last summer. He and his wife, Wendy, live in Stillwater and have been married since 1991. They have three children: Madison (20), Jordan Claire (19) and Harrison (16). Rick works in Minneapolis in commercial print sales and Wendy is a real estate agent for Keller Williams, working primarily in and around the St. Croix Valley (both MN & WI). Rick is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary and is excited to help lead this strategic part of our mission as we make more and better disciples of Jesus together.

How can I help?

We’re so glad you asked! The FCC Community Night team is always looking for people with a gift for serving and hospitality to help prepare the food, set-up tables, welcome people, provide childcare and clean-up. We are also looking for qualified teachers to join our team as well.If you would enjoy helping, please contact Gary Nourse (genourse@comcast.net) and Rick Gimpel (rwgimpel@gmail.com) and let them know. We could really use help in the kitchens and with set-up and clean-up.
