On Wednesday, we’ll gather for an Ash Wednesday Reflection Service at 7 p.m. We will not have Awana Clubs or The Refuge that evening, so you can attend the service together as a family.
Ash Wednesday is an opportunity for us to specifically remember our mortality as a penalty for our rebellion against God. Remembering our mortality helps us to be wise, to number our days, and to increase our humility. But it is also an opportunity to remember God's gospel and let the gospel shape our identity. Because we are in Christ, we will be raised from the dead.
In this service, Pastor Larry will remind us of the good news of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, and how his resurrection gives us hope and helps us to consider our mortality and gain wisdom for living as we wait for Jesus to return. We will sing together and reflect together.
Next Sunday during our services, we’ll be praying for Faith Community’s newest elder, Eric Lent. We take leadership development seriously and deliberately. Eric has been serving as an elder apprentice and was affirmed as an elder in January at our annual meeting. Next Sunday, we’ll be praying for him as he begins serving as an Elder.
