Friday UpDate - Apr. 17, 2020

Hello, everyone! I miss seeing you all in person.  But I am so glad we get to join together every Sunday for FCC Online. A lot has changed, but the mission hasn’t changed, and the Spirit’s power hasn’t changed!

We are one church meeting in many living rooms right now, not only for worship, but also as small groups meeting online all over the valley--we call them Missional Communities. They are a place to belong, grow, and serve. Encouraging one another, caring for one another and serving our neighbors. Every other week my wife and I have been meeting with our Missional Community online. Our hearts have been encouraged each time. We would love for you to join up with us in Missional Communities. If you would like to connect with other followers of Jesus in your neighborhood, you can get connected with a Missional Community at or the Faith Base app. Missional Communities are continuing to meet virtually through online meetings.

New series starts this Sunday!

We all want to live the good life. Each of us is seeking deep happiness—fulfillment and satisfaction. Jesus shows us a way of living that turns our priorities upside down. True fulfillment comes when we put last things first. This Sunday, we begin a new series, "Last Things First," on Jesus’ most famous teaching—the sermon on the mount. This Sunday is all about Jesus’ way to experience lasting fulfillment and happiness.

Because of this season, I believe we are all in a place to learn from Jesus in ways that wouldn’t have been possible three months ago. Jesus spoke this sermon at a time in history when things were uncertain, when anxieties were high, and people we’re looking for hope. It’s at times like these when our hearts are more open than ever to hear Jesus invitation to examine and reshape our priorities for our lives.

Jesus teaches us what is most important for us to know and believe so we can live to our fullest potential, when times are good, but especially when times are hard. I am excited to see how Jesus changes each of us during this time.

It has never been easier to share the hope of Jesus or invite others to meet Jesus.

  • Join us this Sunday at 9 or 11am for online church at or on Facebook.
  • Personally invite a friend to an online service with a text, email or through social media, too! More than ever, people want to stay connected. Reach out to a friend and personally invite them to watch an online service and then have a follow up conversation with them, to ask them what they thought, and see how you can help them take their next step.
  • Find the online sermon guide with the option to download and print at

Listen to this week’s worship music playlist on Spotify. Check it out here. (You’ll need to sign up for a free Spotify account to listen, if you don’t already have one.)

Thank you for the many ways you are serving our neighbors across the St. Croix Valley! We’ve put together some resources in the “Serving Our Neighbors” post on the FCC blog to help you reach out to your friends and neighbors, including:

  • Ways to help support the medical, EMS and law enforcement personnel in our community
  • New ways to volunteer with the Hudson Backpack Program
  • Neighbor connect card and social media graphic

Although we’re all experiencing a lot of change right now, our mission stays the same: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus. We have an opportunity to reach thousands through our new online services and resources. Your faithful giving helps support our shared mission. Thank you for your generosity!
