Friday UpDate - June 12, 2020

Happy Friday, FCC! As the temperatures get warmer, it’s a good reminder that FaithWorks is just around the corner, June 22-26. Now in its 10th year, FaithWorks is a week each summer that Faith Community Church dedicates to serving our neighbors across the St. Croix Valley. About 100 workers are needed each day to help with a variety of projects, such as painting, yardwork and home maintenance, at homes, schools and city parks and buildings. Adaptations will be made this year, but we will still be loving our neighbors in a significant way together. If you have any questions, contact Pastor Larry Szyman at Here are some ways to get involved:

  • Nominate a FaithWorks project at or the FaithBase app.
  • Register to volunteer during FaithWorks at or the FaithBase  app. (About 100 workers, from middle schoolers through adults, are needed each day to help to complete about 50 projects during the week.)
  • If you would like to make a financial donation to FaithWorks, you can make an online donation at or the  FaithBase app. Thank you!
  • Faith Community Church is holding a scrap metal collection again this year in support of FaithWorks. Scrap metal will be received from 9am-5pm, Monday through Thursday, June 22-25, and 9am-12pm (noon) on Friday, June 26, at dumpsters located at the house just south of the church building, 777 Carmichael Road (look for the sign). Please note, we are not able to accept refrigerators, microwaves, A/C units, automobiles, or anything with freon (unless the freon has already been purged).

Can God use me? Can God use you? Can God work through us for meaningful and significant change in this world? Yes! How do we know? God shows us in the story of one of the most famous and greatest kings in history, King David. This week, God shows us what he is like and what he can do through overlooked and seemingly insignificant people. God shows himself when David fights Goliath.

Just a reminder that through the month of June we are planning for an in-person attendance of 100 people at both of the 9:00 and 11:00am services. There’s still some room for this Sunday (June 14), so if you’d still like to RSVP for the in-person services, please RSVP at this link.

Whether you watch at home or are on campus on Sunday, we are one church with one mission: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus.

  • FAITH at Home—DAVID: a shepherd boy, a KING. God saw kingliness in David when no one else did. What does it mean to be kingly? God tells us it's a matter of the heart. A humble heart is a kingly heart. So how can we practice having a humble heart? Check out this week's video and talking points to learn more.
  • FAITH & Life—In this week's episode of FAITH & Life, Pastor Larry Szyman takes us on a brief journey to consider our future as a new season of reopening unfolds. Could it be better than the pre-COVID era?

Could you please help us help as many people as possible by sharing these videos with a friend? Thank you!

Our hearts break over all the pain and turmoil that has taken place recently in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Check out this blog post at for ways to help impact immediate needs and also help resource churches in the neighborhoods with time and financial gifts.
