For his anger is but for a moment,
and his favor is for a lifetime.
As I read through Psalm 30, I was reminded that because we are in Christ, God’s anger toward us is just for a moment, but his favor is for a lifetime. What this means is that because God is holy, and he loves us, he will be angry with us because of our sin. Because God is good and loves us, he will discipline us. His discipline will be painful, but it is designed to bring us to repentance. But this discipline is also temporary compared to all the bounty of blessings and joys he brings into our lives.
This thought gripped my mind and heart: The God of the universe, the Holy One, is graciously disposed toward me. I too often forget God’s gracious disposition toward me. How about your heart? Are you remembering today, that because Jesus lived, died, rose again, and ascended to heaven, God is graciously disposed toward you? That God’s favor toward you will last your lifetime and into eternity?
Rest your heart in his great favor!
