TheUpDate Weekly Newsletter - July 31, 2019

It’s Vacation Bible School (VBS) at Faith Community this week, and the building is filled with children praising God for his greatness, authority, providence, power and love (1 Peter 1:3-7)! Thank you to everyone serving this week! Please continue to pray for the children, teens and adults, who are a part of VBS. Check out FCC's posts and stories on Instagram (@fcchudson) for highlights from each day of VBS.

As we begin August tomorrow, here’s a look at what’s coming up during the month:

  • Aug. 11Online registration opens at and the FaithBase app for FaithKids LifeShaping (Kindergarten through 5th grade), Awana Clubs (age 3-years to 6th grade) and the Refuge (6th-12th grade).
  • Aug. 11Experience the miracle of life by observing a live ultrasound, taking place after both the 9 and 11am services in the Refuge Room. Representatives from one of FCC’s partners, New Life Family Services, will perform the ultrasound. Everyone is welcome! The mother will be behind a partition, and the ultrasound will be projected onto a screen.
  • Aug. 11Another one of FCC’s partners, Options for Women of River Falls, will have representatives at FCC. We will start our annual baby bottle fundraiser in support of Options for Women. Pick up a baby bottle, fill it with your pocket change (or other donations in support of Options for Women—Please make checks payable to Options for Women. Any check made out to FCC cannot be forwarded/cashed on behalf of Options for Women.), then return the bottle to FCC in the next few weeks. Thank you!
  • Aug. 18We’ll be celebrating baptisms during the services (see below for more information).
  • Aug. 25Pastor Tim Porter returns on Aug. 25 from his sabbatical to conclude the “Real You. Real God.” sermon series. We’ll be celebrating FCC’s 35th anniversary and also looking forward to what’s next at FCC. And, we will be commissioning our newest pastor, Pat Stream, Pastor for Biblical Counseling.

by Pastor Tim Prince

On Sunday, I mentioned that I was borrowing heavily from a talk by Bob Kauflin. Here, again, was my favorite part:

"This means every voice in the church matters. We’re not called simply to listen to others sing…or to sing by ourselves. We are called to sing with others, especially in the context of our local church. The question isn’t,  Do you have a voice? The question is,  Do you have a song? If you’ve turned from your sins and trusted in the finished work of Christ, if you’re forgiven and reconciled to God, then you have a song. It’s a song of the redeemed, of those who have been rescued from the righteous wrath of God through the cross of Jesus Christ and are now called his friends. Once we were not a people, but now we are the people of God, and our singing together, every voice contributing, is one way we express that truth."

Come on Sunday as Pastor Tim Prince continues in the “Real You. Real God.” series with “Uncontainable” (Psalm 145).

"Christian witness is simply overheard worship." This quote from Harold Best sums up the feeling of Psalm 145, which we'll be looking at together this week.

Invite a friend! See you on Sunday!

Romans 8:28 (Trials)
28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
