Happy Wednesday, FCC! I sure hope you had an enjoyable 4thof July celebration! I spent time thanking God for our liberty as a nation, but also for the freedom we have because of Jesus—a freedom from sin because of Jesus’ death in our place and the gift of the Holy Spirit to help us walk in the freedom of obedience to Jesus. Let’s not use our freedom for sin, but let’s use our freedom to say yes to Jesus and keep in step with his Spirit today!
We’re starting a new series on Sunday on the Book of Jonah: "Running From God." We are all runners. But, why? Why do we run? Sometimes we are called to do the “right thing,” but when we weigh the cost, the price just seems too high. So, we run from God. The question is, “where IS God when I run from what’s good?” God is so full of mercy that it seems "too good to be true." The story of Jonah shows us that when we stop running from God, mercy is right there when we turn around.
This Sunday, we’ll be introduced to Jonah, and how his life exposes our hearts—when we run from God, we run toward something else. We will also be introduced to God and God’s heart, to a relentless grace that is more powerful than our ability to run.
NEW DISCIPLESHIP TOOL COMING WITH “RUNNING FROM GOD” SERIES
We are excited to announce that beginning with our series on Jonah, we will be providing a conversation guide for families, individuals, discipleship groups and Missional Communities. This will be a great tool for those wishing to take a more personal, deeper dive into the content of Jonah.
Watch for a link to the discussion guide at fcchudson.com and the FaithBase app later this week. We encourage you to use it on your own, around your dinner tables, over coffee with your friends and in your discipleship groups. And we would welcome your feedback! Please send your feedback and questions to Pastor Tim Prince at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We invite you to gather with us at the church building without the need to RSVP. Just a reminder that for our in-person gatherings we intend to follow, in spirit, the COVID guidelines provided by St. Croix County and the CDC. Please see the guidelines on the FCC blog. While we believe these measures will reduce the possibility of infection for those who attend services in-person, we cannot eliminate that risk entirely. As a result, we need you to resolve for yourself whether participating in on-site worship is the best approach for you. The safest alternative, especially for those who are vulnerable or immune-compromised will continue to be worshipping with us online.
Whether you watch at home or are on campus on Sunday, you matter to us and you matter to God, and we are one church with one mission: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus.
Philippians 2:4-5 (God’s Character)
4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus…
In this season of concern over the spread of COVID-19, Faith Community Church and its hosts will hold a Backyard VBS for K-5th graders this summer using the Go Fish “Gotta Move!” VBS curriculum. VBS will take place Monday, July 20 - Friday, July 24th and is open to children in K-5th grade (2019-20). Children will attend VBS in the backyard of a neighbor who hosts a Backyard VBS. Learn more about Backyard VBS and register your child at fcchudson.com. Registration will close on Monday, July 13, at midnight.
Although we’re all experiencing a lot of change right now, our mission stays the same: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus. We have an opportunity to reach thousands through our new online services and resources. Your faithful giving helps support our shared mission. Thank you for your generosity!
