Hi, FCC! FaithWorks is taking place this week as we serve together to love on our neighbors and perform tasks large and small to share God’s love. Thank you for serving! Thank you for praying! Thank you for donations of snacks, water, tools, equipment, scrap metal and more! Thank you for sharing your photos on social media with #FaithWorks2019! And, thank you for giving to help fund FaithWorks!
Through FaithWorks, there are opportunities to serve as laborers, on the food team, as nursery workers, and on the prayer/evangelism team. About 100 workers are needed each day of FaithWorks. And, there’s still time to participate! If you are not registered for FaithWorks, please just stop by the church building, and we can get you signed up and sent out to serve! We find in our service that the words of Jesus ring true, and that we not only help others but find joy and build relationships with some of the wonderful people who are FCC. There is something that takes place in us as God is loving on others through us. And, if you’d like to help fund FaithWorks, you may make a donation at this link. Thank you!
We’re excited to share that Pat Stream will be joining the FCC Staff as part-time Pastor for Biblical Counseling on July 1. An aspect of our strategic plan for a culture of discipleship with an evangelistic ethos is to bring gospel resources to our church and community. We believe Biblical Counseling can give hope to those who are in the midst of struggle by empowering Christ-centered change. Toward that end, we are seeking to equip as many people as possible for biblical counseling. We hope to have over 200 people trained in Biblical Counseling by 2021.
Biblical Counseling is acute discipleship, taking gospel truth and applying it directly to real life. This pastoral position is an important component of “As We Go” discipleship. Pat will help us grow our skills and capabilities to disciple each other in the challenges of everyday life and through mentoring relationships.
Pat and his wife, Carla, are members of FCC, and Pat serves as an Elder. He began leading the Biblical Counseling ministry at FCC in 2013 and has helped train more than 120 people in the basics of Biblical Counseling. Pat has earned his certification from the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors, is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling from Faith Bible Seminary in Lafayette, Indiana, and is helping train and supervise others at FCC, who are pursuing their certification.
Thank you, FCC, for your generosity that enables us to bring Pat on staff this year. We are very thankful for this opportunity to have a pastor dedicated to leading this area of ministry and helping us expand Biblical Counseling care in our community.
We look forward to welcoming Glenn Herschberger back this Sunday as our teaching pastor. He’ll be continuing in the “Real You. Real God” series with “The Greatest Desire” (Psalm 37:1-7). This poem is a collection of wise sayings by an elder to his students. It’s in the form of an acrostic, every other line begins with the succeeding letter of the Hebrew alphabet. God has the very best waiting for us but we consistently settle for something less than what God desires. On Sunday, we will focus on Psalm 37:1-7 addressing what God desires and what it looks like to delight yourself in the Lord.
Glenn Herschberger is a member of Faith Community Church, and he serves as the Executive Director of Church Planting for Converge Great Lakes, which FCC partners with to help plant and strengthen local churches locally and worldwide.

A note from Pastor Larry Szyman
If you are looking for a little direction in your Bible reading, consider reading through the Psalms this summer. If you read two Psalms each day from Monday through Saturday, and one on Sunday, you will finish the entire book the week we finish the series. This may be a great way to grow with us. I would encourage three questions as you read each Psalm.
Also, for a nine-minute overview of Psalms in a fun and informative format, watch the nine-minute illustrated presentation of Psalms by the Gospel Project. You can either search online for “Gospel Project Psalms” or follow this link.
We have two teams serving on mission with a global focus this summer. The team serving in Bangkok, Thailand, is teaching English classes at the Santisuk English School, one of FCC’s global mission extension partners. The team serving in Guatemala is helping to support and encourage a local church planter, Pastor Antonio and his family. Thank you for praying! You can read more about both of these teams in the summer edition of “Faith Hudson” magazine, available at the usher stands or Info Walls in the hallways at FCC.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE TEAM IN THAILAND:
PLEASE PRAY FOR THE TEAM IN GUATEMALA:
1 John 1:8-9 (Repentance)
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We are holding a scrap metal collection again this year in support of FaithWorks. Drop off is available now through Saturday, June 22, at dumpsters located at the house just south of the church building. If you have any questions about making donations to the scrap metal collection, please contact Larry Szyman at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note, we are not able to accept refrigerators, microwaves, A/C units, automobiles, or anything with freon (unless the freon has already been purged). Thank you!
Loving caregivers are needed on Sunday mornings this summer in the Early Childhood Ministry area. If you can help, please contact Karen Garden at 715-220-2507 as soon as possible. Thank you!
As an extension of FCC’s Care Ministry, FCC is forming a team of men and women, who can visit people in our FCC family. Would you like to serve by visiting people who may be sick, in the hospital or unable to leave their homes? This involves:
