TheUpDate Weekly Newsletter - June 3, 2020

Hello, Faith Community! We’re so excited to be taking the next step in regathering together for Sunday morning services.

Just a reminder—we’re calling this is a regathering and not a reopening. Although we’ve not gathered in our building for worship in a while, the mission has continued. In fact, just last Sunday two people said yes to Jesus during FCC Online. Discipleship is happening in small groups and missional communities, and we are getting ready for FaithWorks in the coming weeks.

But this week, we’re getting everything ready at the building to carefully offer in-person gatherings, while simultaneously making our services available through livestream online. Although the surroundings for the in-person service may be a little different through this transition, our mission remains the same: we want to help people meet, know and follow Jesus. Thank you for your patience and grace.

Just a reminder that we are planning for an in-person attendance of 100 people at both the 9:00 and 11:00am services. There’s still some room for this Sunday (June 7), so if you’d still like to RSVP for the in-person services, please RSVP by Thursday, June 4 at 11:59pm at this link.

We’re starting a new sermon series on Sunday on the life of King David. In life, we all experience many victories and failures. But, in the end, it isn't our talents or skills that qualify us. It is our willingness to be teachable and humble when we fall. The life of King David shows how a seemingly insignificant and flawed person can live a worthy life. People look to outward appearances, but God looks to the heart.

Our hearts break over all the pain and turmoil that have taken place recently in Minneapolis and St. Paul, and we are actively looking for partners that can help us impact the needs that exist. Pastor Larry Szyman has been meeting with pastors in the Twin Cities to learn more about how we can help. There are many immediate relief needs that are being met, and we are so grateful! But there will be long term needs, as well. And so we want to help resource churches in the neighborhoods with time and financial gifts, so that the gospel works its way into building beautiful neighborhoods that to God’s glory look more and more like the kingdom of God. Here are a couple of options, and we hope to bring you more in the future:

Isaiah 40:30-31 (Strength)

30 Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

FAITHWORKS 2020 | JUNE 22-26

Each summer, Faith Community Church dedicates a week to serving our neighbors across the St. Croix Valley through FaithWorks, and this summer marks our 10th year! Adaptations will be made, but we will still be loving our neighbors in a significant way together. Registration to volunteer is now open! And, please nominate projects to serve those around us in need: neighbors, schools, parks, widows, single parents, etc. Talk to those in your sphere of opportunity and let us know how we can help by filling out the form online! If you have any questions, contact Pastor Larry Szyman at

  • Nominate a FaithWorks project at or the FaithBase app.
