Happy Wednesday, FCC!
God has been working on my prayer life in the last couple of weeks. I have been asking to know God more during this season to be able to really connect with him in prayer. God has been teaching me again that prayer is effective and powerful, that God wants to meet with me and grow my trust in him.
FCC, would you please join me in growing in prayer? Would you dedicate yourself to praying a bit more during the remainder of May? Would you consider doubling your daily prayer time in the remainder of May? If you pray five minutes a day, pray 10. If 10 minutes, then 20. Or add 10 minutes to what your prayer time is.
And would you pray, thanking God for the ways he has cared for you and provided for you over the last couple of months? The apostle Paul says to pray with thanksgiving, and so we want to be grateful to God for all the ways he is providing for us.
Also, would you please pray for God’s work and power in the coming months as we seek to care for our neighbors with FaithWorks 2020? Pray that God would lead us as we seek to revise VBS for this summer, to help children meet, know and follow Jesus. Also, pray that God would bring renewal in the St. Croix Valley, that God’s Spirit would be drawing more and more people to Jesus. Lastly, pray that God would give us wisdom and his presence as we seek to begin gathering together more as our state begins to open up.
This Sunday, we will continue in our series on Jesus’ sermon on the mount, and we’ll focus on the section of that sermon in which Jesus speaks words of great comfort to worried hearts. Jesus doesn’t want us to live anxious lives. He desires that we would learn from him how to have peaceful hearts, even in difficult times. If you or someone you know is wrestling with anxiety and worry right now, this is a sermon just for you.
As a follow up to this sermon, we have another FAITH & Life Conversation focusing on anxiety. The FAITH & Life Conversation will be led by Pat Stream, FCC’s Pastor of Counseling and a Certified Biblical Counselor, and it will take place through a Zoom meeting next Tuesday night, May 19, from 7:00 to 8:00pm. (You do not need a Zoom account to attend. A link to the meeting will provided to you when you register.) FAITH & Live Conversations are free to attend, so please share this information with a friend.
The hour will be focused on three things: 1) hope-filled and practical teaching from God's Word about how to deal with anxiety 2) question and answers, and 3) prayer. This will be a great opportunity to connect with others, be strengthened from God’s Word, and learn ways to be constructive with your worry.
Registration is required for the FAITH & Life Conversation. We will make the registration available during Sunday morning’s worship service. There will also be a link available with tomorrow's FAITH & Life video featuring Pastor Larry Szyman. Tomorrow’s video will focus on differences in approaches in this Covid-19 season and the anxiety that may result from them. Please watch for the video tomorrow evening at fcchudson.com or on Facebook or Instagram, along with the link to register.
Every week we have a follow up to the sermon that’s for the whole family, and helps us all live out what we are learning. From Jesus. Watch for this week’s Faith at Home video later today atfcchudson.com.
Listen to this week’s worship music playlist on Spotify. Check it out here. (You’ll need to sign up for a free Spotify account to listen, if you don’t already have one.)
Each summer, Faith Community Church dedicates a week to serving our neighbors across the St. Croix Valley through FaithWorks, and this summer marks our 10th year! Adaptations will be made, but we will still be loving our neighbors in a significant way together. Our first goal is to get projects to serve those around us in need: neighbors, schools, parks, widows, single parents, etc. Nominating those we want to help is key in the FaithWorks process. Talk to those in your sphere of opportunity and let us know how we can help by filling out the form online! If you have any questions, contact Pastor Larry Szyman at email@example.com.
1 Peter 1:3 (Gospel)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,...
This year's FCC Marriage Retreat theme is ANCHORED by God’s Soul-Shaping Love and Strength:
The weekend is for all marriages, whether you are new to marriage or well-seasoned. Couples come for a variety of reasons, from setting aside time away to focus on their relationship, to setting goals for the next year, to reconnecting with other couples. The weekends are planned around a mixture of solid biblical teaching, social interaction, time alone as a couple and good meals. Learn more about the schedule for the weekend, what other couples have to say about past retreats, plus registration info at fcchudson.com.
Although we’re all experiencing a lot of change right now, our mission stays the same: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus. We have an opportunity to reach thousands through our new online services and resources. Your faithful giving helps support our shared mission. Thank you for your generosity!
