Happy Wednesday, FCC!
Prayer. I am convinced God is always at work. In all kinds of circumstances, he is always doing something, always doing a lot of things. Always doing far more than we can even see. One of the ways God has been growing me during this season is deepening my prayer relationship with God.
Sometimes I can get cynical about whether anything will ever change. Sometimes I can be tempted to believe that God doesn’t see and God doesn’t hear, when we call to him. But during this season, our heavenly Father has been dispelling revealing and helping me turn from my cynicism. He has been taking me deeper to have confidence in him—a confidence that is helping me to pray as a first and regular response to life.
I am being reminded over and over that our Father really wants us to talk to him about everything and anything. From what I can tell, God is working in me a praying life. I am learning that everyday concerns, small frustrations, and small worries are a reason to pray. I am learning that large national concerns—reopening our country, for example—is a reason to pray. God says that he moves the hearts of leaders. I am learning that great evil and loss in our world—deaths in long-term facilities and the death of George Floyd, for example—are reasons to pray. God brings protection. God brings comfort to the hurting. God brings righteousness.
Prayer doesn’t mean we aren’t acting and working toward real solutions. Prayer as a first and regular response is a way of acting. It is talking to God about things only he can change, and letting him change us in the process.
Will you join me in learning from Jesus more and more how to pray?
FCC, the pastors and elders are meeting tonight to finalize plans for a phased approach to regather for worship. We are looking forward to begin regathering together, and we want to be wise and intentional, caring for one another and our community in the St Croix Valley.
This Sunday we will close out our series called, “Last Things First.” Just like every building needs a solid foundation to build on, so does every human heart. We need a foundation for making hard decisions in life. We need a foundation that is stable when times are uncertain. Jesus taught us that he can give us that kind of foundation. Services will be only online this Sunday, May 31. Please join in for FCC Online at 9 or 11am at https://fcchudson.online.church, or on Facebook or YouTube.
Spring is the time of year that Faith Community Church’s Women’s Ministries review God’s work from the previous year and begin through prayer to plan the next year's focus. Thank you to all the women who faithfully serve in Women’s Ministry at Faith Community. And, a special thank you to Tracy McCutcheon who has served in Women’s Ministry for more than 10 years, and as Women’s Ministry Director for the past four. Welcome to the three leaders stepping into new roles:
You can read more about their roles and other changes happening in Women’s Ministry this year in a blog post by Tracy McCutcheon at fcchudson.com.
Isaiah 40:28-29 (Strength)
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Each summer, Faith Community Church dedicates a week to serving our neighbors across the St. Croix Valley through FaithWorks, and this summer marks our 10th year! Adaptations will be made, but we will still be loving our neighbors in a significant way together. Registration to volunteer is now open! And, please nominate projects to serve those around us in need: neighbors, schools, parks, widows, single parents, etc. Talk to those in your sphere of opportunity and let us know how we can help by filling out the form online! If you have any questions, contact Pastor Larry Szyman at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Although we’re all experiencing a lot of change right now, our mission stays the same: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus. We have an opportunity to reach thousands through our new online services and resources. Your faithful giving helps support our shared mission. Thank you for your generosity!
