Happy Winterland and Thanksgiving, FCC! I sure hope you have a delightful Thanksgiving, and that your heart is filled with gratitude over all that God has given us in Jesus! I know that I am especially grateful for you and the work God is doing in and through you! If you are traveling this weekend, please know I am praying for you and look forward to seeing you soon!
On that note, I just want you to know that we have something special planned for this Sunday, so if you can, try to be back in town for worship on Sunday morning at 9 or 11.
Happy Thanksgiving, FCC!!
by Pastor Tim Prince
I need to begin this gospel reminder with a brief note from Sunday’s sermon. In the first service, I referenced a judgment scene in Ezekiel chapter 10. The judgment scene that I had in mind is actually in Ezekiel 9. I’m sorry for any confusion this may have caused.
Jesus is no longer physically present in the world, but has ascended to the right hand of his Father (John 20:17; Acts 1:9; Hebrews 4:14-16). In this age, (between the time of Jesus’ ascension and his return), the Spirit of God is his real presence with us (John 14:15-17, 16:7-11), and today Jesus rules the world by his word (Hebrews 1:1-4, 4:12; Revelation 1:16). For this reason and many others, the word of God is precious to us, and it is through the word, illuminated by the Spirit, that we enjoy a real and living relationship with God today.
If we want to walk with Jesus, we need to be hearing and/or reading the word of God. I want to encourage you again, to begin listening to God, using this simple pattern for Bible reading: SOAP.
S - Scripture: You don’t need to read huge chunks of Scripture, if you’re just beginning. Pick a book like Mark or Colossians and just begin reading through it one section at a time, until you finish. Each day highlight a single verse that has caught your attention. Write it in your notebook.
O - Observe: Who is God and what is he like? What has God done and what is he doing? Who am I? Who will I be? What questions does this raise for me?
A - Apply: Remember that this is the difference between just reading and really listening. Is there a promise to trust, a command to obey, a sin to confess or an example to follow? Is there anything God is asking you to do? Write it down and then do it.
P - Prayer: Write out your prayer regarding this. If you don’t know how to do what you think God is asking you to do, ask for his help. Did your reading just not make sense? Ask God to teach you.
Find a few other people in your Missional Community, who are doing this same thing. Get together every other week and just begin sharing your SOAP notes. Pray for each other. Help one another listen and obey. This is discipleship!
This Sunday, we kick off our Christmas series called FULFILLED! We will be learning about how Jesus fulfills some key promises and prophecies from the Old Testament book, Isaiah. Christmas is a time for us to celebrate, because God fulfilled his promises to create a way for real hope, real peace, and real joy! This Christmas season is a time for us to experience and tell the greatest news of all time. God has given us real hope. Hope is a person. Hope has a name. His name is Jesus. This Sunday, I will teach from Isaiah 61.1-14, and we will celebrate and be inspired to live out hope.

At Faith Community, we want to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus. Through our strategic plan, we have established five main initiatives to help us move toward this overall goal. A couple times a year, we get together as a church family to talk about our plans for how we hope to live out this goal, and this includes talking about how we steward our resources.
This Sunday, please pick up a copy of the 2020 Vision Forward booklet to see what’s planned for next year. We will have a brief meeting after both services on Dec. 8 in the Refuge Room, to discuss the budget proposal.
Then, on Sunday, Dec. 15, FCC covenant members will vote on the budget proposal following the 9 a.m. service with a meeting starting at approximately 10:30 a.m.
We have a vision, that in the coming years, we will help thousands in the St. Croix Valley meet, know, and follow Jesus. Your generosity, especially at the end of the year, can help us do this. Your generosity is helping lives be changed. Seventeen people recently made the step to be baptized! As you have been changed by God's grace, would you please give generously to help others meet Jesus, know and follow Jesus? Thank you!

1 Jn. 2:15-16 (Temptation)
15Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life[a]—is not from the Father but is from the world.
