Happy Wednesday, FCC!

In the midst of this pandemic, navigating all kinds of changes to the start of school, and processing the loss of my father (wow it’s been a crazy two months!), I have been helped by intentionally grounding my heart in four “R’s” (I learned these R’s from in lea Becky Pippert and her book “Stay Salt”).  I share them here, because they might be helpful for you.

  • Remember - Jesus died and rose again, so that we can have God’s Spirit dwelling in our hearts. Living life isn’t about our competency or our adequacy, but about God’s Spirit giving us all we need in the moment to moment circumstances of every day.

  • Request - In every and all circumstances, we can call on God’s Spirit to guide us and help us. His help is always perfect for whatever we need.

  • Rejoice - God has chosen to dwell in you by the Holy Spirit. You belong to him, and he will never forsake you.

  • Renew - I want to live by God’s will, empowered by the Spirit, and put off my will and how I believe my life should work.

Personally, I work through these “R’s” when I get up and then through the day--with parenting, making decisions, participating in meetings, discipleship work, talking to others about Jesus--all kinds of circumstances. I hope you will be helped and grounded in the Spirit’s presence and power whatever you encounter today!

THIS SUNDAY

We will close out our Unafraid series this Sunday with a sermon on “Unafraid of Failure.” Fear of failure can be crippling in making big and small decisions. But a relationship with Jesus--knowing his care and his power--helps us overcome our fear of failure.

We’ll see you in person or online this Sunday! Invite a friend to join you!

SERMON RESOURCES

  • Find the conversation guide for the “Unafraid of Family and Friends” sermon (Sept. 27) at fcchudson.com or on the app. This is a great tool for those wishing to take a more personal, deeper dive into the content of each sermon on your own, as a family, or in discipleship groups and Missional Communities. And, we welcome your feedback!

  • Watch or listen to sermons in the “Unafraid” series at fcchudson.com or on the app.

Whether you watch at home or are on campus on Sundays, you matter to us and you matter to God, and we are one church with one mission: to help everyone meet, know and follow Jesus.

THIS WEEK’S BIBLE MEMORY VERSE

John 1:1-3 (God’s Character)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
