Baptism at FCC

Are you ready to be baptized?

When you say YES to Jesus, you admit that you are a sinner, believe that Jesus died and rose again for the forgiveness of your sins, and commit to following him. Baptism is a public declaration of the inner change Jesus has made in your life.

At Faith Community, baptism is a celebration! Individuals identify with Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, trusting him for salvation and declaring their life is committed to him.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”

Matt 28:19

Talk to a Pastor About Baptism
  • What is baptism, and why does it matter?

Baptism is an outward, public expression of an inward reality—faith in Jesus Christ. It does not save us, but it is a God-given way to proclaim that we have been united with Christ in His death and resurrection (Romans 6:3–4). Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized as an act of obedience and identification with Him (Matthew 28:19).

  • Does baptism save me?

No. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8–9). Baptism is not a means of earning salvation, but a response to salvation—an act of obedience that flows from a transformed heart.

  • Do you practice infant baptism?

No. We practice believer’s baptism, meaning baptism is for those who have personally repented of sin and trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. While we value and celebrate children, Scripture consistently presents baptism as following personal faith. We encourage parents to dedicate their children to the Lord and disciple them toward personal faith in Christ.

  • How old does someone need to be to get baptized?

There is no specific age requirement in Scripture. What matters is not age, but understanding and genuine faith. Children may be baptized once they can clearly articulate the gospel, their need for a Savior, and their personal trust in Jesus. We take special care to walk with kids and parents through this process to ensure readiness and clarity. When they are able to give a profession of faith, please contact a Pastor to discuss your next steps.

  • What if I was baptized as a baby or before I truly believed?

Many people were baptized before they personally understood or trusted in Christ. If you have since come to genuine faith in Jesus, we encourage baptism as a believer. This is not a rejection of your past, but a joyful step of obedience that reflects your personal faith today.
