Mission Focus Moment: John, Ana, and the
PNG Translation Projects
John and his wife Ana serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea (PNG), where John is overseeing groups of translators from ten different language groups while residing in his home in Lakeville, MN. John has been ministering to the people of PNG since 1991. His wife Ana is the CEO of a translation company in the USA. John oversees advisors and consultants who help with each translation group, including the Malei, Patep, Buang, Musim, and Kapin teams. The Malei language group dedicated their New Testament in 2010. Pastor Larry and others from Faith Community Church attended the dedication. Since then, the Malei team has been working on the Old Testament. Some books are ready to be published, while others still need quite a bit of work. John and Ana take two five-week trips to PNG each year to check on the progress of the translation projects. Their goal is to finish these projects well in the next 2-3 years. From August 18-September 22 John will be traveling to Papua New Guinea to help the teams in the Morobe Province, PNG.
How can you pray for John, Ana, and the PNG Translation Projects?
- Pray that all final issues will be resolved while typesetting and publishing the Central Buang New Testament with Genesis, Ruth, and Jonah. Pray that the Scriptures will be well-received by the Buang people in 2027, and that the Scriptures will result in great spiritual growth among them!
- Pray that John will be an encouragement to the teams and help each team to make progress in completing their Bible translation goals for their language groups while visiting PNG next month.
- Pray for Ben Brancheau and David Kawatski, two new Wycliffe Bible Translators that John is mentoring to be advisors with the Yamap and Kapin translation projects. Pray that John will give them helpful guidance and that they will form deep bonds with the people they are beginning work with in these language groups.
- Pray that, together with the Malei team, we can set attainable goals for their Old Testament Translation work to be completed in the next 2-3 years.
